An apology to my dear flist

A while ago, I made a post asking you to prompt me, so I could start writing. You did, and you also gave me amazing and incredibly helpful feedback on the ficlets I wrote. So I want to apologize to all of you, because I'm a failboat and I've only written four of the prompts.

I promised that I'd write each and every single one of them, and I will. I thought I'd be able to do it faster, but between real life, and my lack of talent, it seems like it'll take me months to do it.

Okay this was completely pointless, I just wanted to let you know that I never break a promise, so you'll have your ficlets some day.

WELCOME TO BEING A WRITER. Sometimes stuff takes ages. And sometimes it doesn't work at all. I've dropped out of more challenges than I've completed. You're doing great!

Meg, it's horrible! And the thing is, the ficlets got longer every time, and now I'd feel bad writing a commentfic for the other prompts, because I don't want them to think that I didn't like the prompt or something. And there are prompts that I've thought about, and NOTHING comes up. Not a single idea. Sigh.

Okay, I think it's really important to write whatever you feel like when the mood takes you. Prompts can be fun and challenging and can really help your creativity, but if you get an itch to write something else (even for a different prompt!) I think you should do that and come back to your prompt later.

At any one time I half a half dozen or more ongoing things I'm writing. Some days, when it's writing time, I do some work on one of them, but other times I have a burning desire to write just 500 words of Top Gear or Doctor Who or Gerard in drag seducing Gabe Saporta. And I follow that, because I know it's no use trying to force myself to write Pete Wentz driving a bus, no matter how awesome bus driver Pete is, when what I really want to do right then is write girl!Gerard seducing Gabe.

So I think when you're inspired by anything it's important to write it - even if you don't post it right away - because ignoring those impulses and forcing to work on other stuff is the way to writer's block, basically.

God, I even loved him on that movie where he was a rent-a-cop which was AWFUL. It's like with Bob Bryar; they're not my type AT ALL, and yet I adore them for some reason. IDEK.

Yeah, apparently is pretty common to have unfinished prompts! This doesn't mean that I won't finish them, but it does make me feel less guilty.
